Additions:
This mode differs from Pro-Face-Off Pro Face-Off mode in that the chart alternates from player to player; in Pro Face-Off, both players play the full chart of a song at the same time. Although, featured in Game_GuitarHeroAerosmith Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Game_GuitarHeroWorldTour Guitar Hero: World Tour, you can do a Pro-Face-Off Pro Face-Off with different difficulties playing, most likely being the first move towards ending the Face-Off game mode.

Revision [17599]

Additions:
Another way in which the mode differs from Pro Face-Off is that in regular Face-Off, the two players may play on different difficulty levels (for example, one player on medium and the other on Hard), whereas in Pro Face-Off they may not.
If both players are on the same difficulty level (Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert) then both players will score the same points for each note at the same multiplier. However, if one player is at a higher difficulty level than the other, they will score fewer points for each note hit.
For example, if both players are on Expert, the first note each hits will grant 50 points. However, if one player is on Expert and the other on Easy, the Easy player will attain more points than the Expert player for this note. (I don't know the exact ratio; needs editing.) This is due to the fact that a song on Expert will have many more notes than the same song on Easy, so if the two difficulties granted the same amount of points per note then the Expert player would have a far higher score potential.
