A talky is a vocal phrase in either Game_RockBand Rock Band∞ or Game_GuitarHeroWorldTour Guitar Hero: World Tour that does not require the singer to sing on pitch. The singer instead just speaks the phrase in whichever pitch he or she wishes. Talkies are made to detect phoneme changes in Game_RockBand Rock Band∞, but Game_RockBand2 Rock Band 2∞ scrapped the phoneme detection system to due widely reported issues. In Game_GuitarHeroWorldTour Guitar Hero: World Tour, the vocals charts for the "Beginner" difficulty consist entirely of talkies.

Every so often a song is released where a talky cannot be hit no matter how the singer speaks. This is called a "broken talky". The majority of broken talkies in Game_RockBand Rock Band∞ and DLC songs have been fixed for Game_RockBand2 Rock Band 2∞.
