Gaming Setup

Guitar Hero:
I have a total of three guitars for guitar hero, but only one of them works well enough for me to use for anything outside of Co-op. I have two wireless black Kramers. One consistently drops notes, the other only occassionaly drops a hold. But my third, the beloved corded Cherry SG from GH1, has much better response time. Its whammy bar is broken (no spring) and the fret buttons are a bit farther from the fretboard, but the response time is lightning fast, and the select button is in an easily accessible location for my pinky or ring finger to hit. All four of my Guitar Hero games are for the PS2, and I have one of the new, smaller ones.
Rock Band
I use all stock RB2 360 pieces. Currently the guitar has no working downstrum, and my pedal is broken beyond conventional repair. The blue pad has come off of my drumset, or the cover at least, so I've covered it with duct tape. I noticed that the response and rebound is greater, so I might intentionally take off the other three covers to help with playing.

Playing Style

Guitar Hero
I play 99% of the time in 2nd position. I don't know why, but I find it immensly easier to stretch my pointer finger than my pinky. The only times I switch out of 2nd position is for GR and GRB chords, for upper zigzags or descending (or ascending) triplets, such as the wankery in Free Bird. I'm usually quite good with whammying, and I have a couple of different styles to do so. Because my whammy bar is broken, I need two fingers to work it well. On slower notes, I downstrum with my thumb, then use my second and third fingers to whammy. On faster, one beat or less notes, I either just push down on the whammy bar or use my ring finger at pinky, bouncing the bar back and forth quickly.
I'm fairly good, I'd like imagine, at technical playing. I can nail a lot of fast solos, such as the ones in Cult of Personality, fairly consistantly. I tap in a few songs: TTFAF (several places), CoD, Impulse (trill), and occassionaly Thunderhorse if I'm feeling fun.
This is the game that I play most often, and am the most devoted to. I've beaten every song on all instruments for expert, and have just a few more to five star. I'm disappointed that even though I have an XBox 360, I don't have Live, so no DLC, no Score Duels, etc. Probably my most impressive sort of things that I've done with this game is on the OMB/all instruments leaderboard. I hover around 20th there, with over 57 million career score.

I play on Expert 95% of the time, with occassional runs on Hard, and even less often, Medium or Easy. I'm reaching I point in my 'playing career' where I'm gonna have to start committing more time to playing if I want to get marginally better. I have 36 FC's, 22.8 million points, and am ranked around 140 PS2, 550 or so globally. Most times I improve some score or another, so my rank is constantly on the rise. This, more than any of the other GH games, is the one that I am genuinly committed to, actually playing often, looking up SP paths, going through each song and seeing what I need to improve.
The game that probably was the biggest contributor to why I picked up Guitar Hero. I played it at a friend's house once, and was instantly obsessed with the game. Bought it soon there after, and was playing Expert within the month. Only a few non bonus song FC's in this game; I just find the songs to be the hardest of all the GH games, especially to FC. Some of my favorite songs include Beast and the Harlot, Free Bird (of course), Six, The Light that Blinds, Laughtrack, Push Push (Lady Lightning), and Stop.

The first GH game I saw being played, back in the summer of '06. I had already owned and beaten the first three DDR games (or at least I think they were the first... MAXX1&2, Extreme1??). I tried playing it, bypassed Easy and Medium without even really trying, and proceded to plead with my parents to get it. Didn't help me too much; I only got this a month before GH2, so it's probably been my least played game. Still, I love a lot of the songs on it, and the lack of reliable hammer-ons/hyperspeed makes it challenging in its own way, and I still enjoy occassionally going back and playing a stray song or two.

Right now I'm a Sophomore in High School, busy with all the high school type things that I should be. I play soccer and run track, play in a bunch of different bands, get good grades, the whole nine yards. I live in Maple Grove, Minnesota, another name for Super-Suburbia, in a family of 7 plus a dog... and yeah, my life is pretty normal.
I started with this one because it's the game I most often play. I play on Expert 95% of the time, with occassional runs on Hard, and even less often, Medium or Easy. .

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's

Recently this has probably been my second most played game, mainly because it has few songs, therefore easier to move up the rankings, and quite a few relatively easy FC's. I have at least one FC in all Tiers except for the 4th, and two in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. There was I time a year or two ago when I played this game quite often, and I enjoy these songs mainly because I really like this era of rock. The 80's was one of the best times for the genre, with many good bands coming out and revolutionizing the style, and the music never seems to get old.

The game that probably was the biggest contributor to why I picked up Guitar Hero. I played it at a friend's house once, and was instantly obsessed with the game. Bought it soon there after, and was playing Expert within the month. Only a few non bonus song FC's in this game; I just find the songs to be the hardest of all the GH games, especially to FC.Yet more scores Some of my favorite songs include Beast and the Harlot, Free Bird (of course), Six, The Light that Blinds, Laughtrack, Push Push (Lady Lightning), and Stop.

About Me
Right now I'm a Sophomore in High School, busy with all the high school type things that I should be. I play soccer and run track, play in a bunch of different bands, get good grades, the whole nine yards. I live in Maple Grove, Minnesota, another name for Super-Suburbia, in a family of 7 plus a dog... and yeah, my life is pretty normal.
Guitar Hero 3
I started with this one because it's the game I most often play. I play on Expert 95% of the time, with occassional runs on Hard, and even less often, Medium or Easy.
I'm reaching I point in my 'playing career' where I'm gonna have to start committing more time to playing if I want to get marginally better. I have 33 FC's, 22.5 million points, and am ranked around 180 PS2, 600 or so globally.
Recently I've had the most improvement that my playing has seen in a while. I realized that I wasn't gonna get much farther if I didn't do something to help me, so I actually took some time and wrote down the star power paths for most of the songs, especially the ones I'd already FC'd. That alone, after running through a bunch of them, gave me an improvement of about 200k, and I'm not done re-FCing all my songs quite yet. I would really like suggestions as to how I could furthur improve my playing (see my score page and Acc. page)
Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's
Recently this has probably been my second most played game, mainly because it has few songs, therefore easier to move up the rankings, and quite a few relatively easy FC's. I have at least one FC in all Tiers except for the 4th, and two in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Scores.
Guitar Hero 2
The game that probably was the biggest contributor to why I picked up Guitar Hero. I played it at a friend's house once, and was instantly obsessed with the game.
