I am just a man...a man who plays Guitar Hero

What's up? TheThirdDay here. Some of you may know me, especially if you're a frequenter of ScoreHero's "Technique, Style, and Gameplay" forum. I'm one the resident "guide dudes"; I've written two guides to date and I'm in the process of writing a third (A HiC FC guide, in case you're curious.), but my biggest contribution to the site is the creation of the "ScoreHero's Definitive List of Guides" sticky: a list of guides for various songs in Guitar Hero. I'm pretty sure I'm the only perma-rockered SH'er who's ever made a stickied thread. :P

Yeah, I'm a low-life perma-rocker. I'm not even just a perma-rocker, I'm a two-times perma-rocker. I was restored to a mascot at one point, but have since been PR'd again. I'm still not even sure what I did the second time, but whatever. I'm a nub. ^.^

T3D in Real Life

T3D=CMC

My actual self and my ScoreHero persona are very similar, but then again, quite different. In both areas I'm generally a kind person, and I usually put others before myself. I talk and act on SH like I do in real life, for the most part. If you like me on SH, you'd probably like my in real life, and same if you hated me. But there are also a bunch of key differences between Colin Corcoran and TheThirdDay. The name, obviously, but more than that. While I'm still kind, I'm a lot meaner in real life. I'm very easy to piss off, especially if I'm in a bad mood. Which is...unfortunately...most of the time. *shrug*

Me, myself, and I

When it comes to my personality, I'm very apathetic. About everything. I just don't care anymore. I'm at a point in my life where I just couldn't care less if I died while I was typing this. I'm not emo or anything, just apathetic about life in general. Like I said, I just don't care.

If there's one way I could describe myself, it would have to be with this quote by Graf, who I know in real life: "Yeah, TheThirdDay is pretty much insane." :D People know me as "that crazy kid", because I'm that asshole who will do anything you tell him to. It all stems from my apathy. Like, for example, let's just say someone tells me to start stripping in the cafeteria. I'll do it, plain and simple. Now, I'm not saying that happened...but I certainly ain't saying it didn't. >.>

Being 17, school is a big part of my life. Unfortunately. :( I loathe school. I'm a senior, which is supposed to be, like, the best year of my life, but if that's true I should just off myself right now. >_> School is such a nightmare for me. I'm dropping out the day I turn 18. It's personal. It's not like I'm bullied or anything, I can't even think of anyone that dislikes me, honestly. I really don't have any enemies, but not many friends either. I'm not a nerd, but I'm far from being popular, lol. But being in that building makes me wanna friggin' kill myself. Again, I'm not emo. I can't stress that enough.

I listen to music a lot. A lot. A lot. I mean, I know that's not unusual for a teenager, but I can't help but think I listen to abnormal amounts. Eh, I'm probably just feeling self-important, lol. I listen to a lot of metal, but also listen to softer genera of rock. My favorite band is, and forever will be, Three Days Grace. Hell, my ScoreHero name, TheThirdDay, is pretty much a direct reference to the band. Listening to 3DG got T3D through a lot of hard times, and I'm like, forever in dept to the band. I don't even think I'm being melodramatic there. ^.^ My favorite subject for a song is a "black love song". No, not like Barry White. Like "Six" by All That Remains. That's my favorite song, by the way. Others I love include "Hate Me" and "The Bleeding" by Fiver Finger Death Punch, "Creep" by Radiohead, "I Hate Everything About You" by Three Days Grace, "Possum Kingdom" by Toadies, "I Miss You" by Blink-182, and "I Will Possess Your Heart" by Death Cab For Cutie. In case you don't know, a black love song is a song about love that you wouldn't consider a love song, because it's too dark. Most of the mentioned songs were black love songs, and the rest are love songs. ...I swear, I'm not emo. :P

How I fill the void

Despite the fact that I'm a member of a video game based forum, I rarely play video games. Well no, I can't say that. I do play video games when I'm hanging out with my friends, but I pretty much never play them alone. I just find them boring. The only games I can really play alone are Resident Evil games. Wait, there is this other game I play quite a bit, but I can't think of the name. Whatever.

I really like to write. Specifically song lyrics. Writing lyrics is kinda like my way of keeping a diary; I write to get out any emotions that may be overwhelming me. I used to write a lot of politically charged stuff, but not really anymore; now I mainly just use music as an outlet. It's funny; I write lyrics all the time, but I never write music. I just kinda suck at writing music, I guess. But that's not really what interests me anyway.

I started teaching myself to play the guitar over the summer. I own a Squire Stratocaster and a Line-6 amp. I'm not very good yet, but I can do stuff like read tabs play a few songs, so I'm not a total newb. I like listening to simple non-guitar tunes and trying to tab them on guitar; the last ones I did were the trumpet solo from the song "Handlebars" by Flowbots and "Zelda's Lullaby" from LoZ:OoT.

Where my heart really lies, though, is in creating stuff on the computer. I guess that's kind of a vague explanation, huh? I love programs such as Adobe Flash, RPG Maker 2003, and the Starcraft campaign editor. I love programing simple little games, making cartoons, ect. Seeing my own creations at work gives me such joy. I've pissed away countless hours doing stuff like designing games I never plan on completing. In all honestly, I don't think I've ever completed anything on the previously mentioned programs. Scratch that: I know I haven't. Still, I have so much fun working in them. :D

My introduction to Guitar Hero

I first played Guitar Hero 2 at a party at my friend Dan's house in the summer of 2007. He was the local Guitar Hero god, being able to 3* Jordan on expert. I played a song on medium and did decent, and that was enough for me. :) Later, around mid September, I played Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's for a couple songs while hanging out at my friend Alyssa's house. It was fun, but I wouldn't pay $90 to buy the bundle. Anyway, she was pretty much the only reason I got into GH. I was f@%kin' crazy about her, but she was into that kid Dan, and always got really impressed when he played. So in some desperate attempt to get her attention, I bought a used Xbox 360 GH2 bundle off of eBay for $60 and started practicing. Long story short, a couple of months later, I don't even really talk to her anymore and play Guitar Hero a few hours a day. Funny how things work out.

At the time of writing this, I own GH2, GH3, and Rock Band for Xbox 360, and I plan to buy GH:WT when it comes out. I don't ever plan on buying Aerosmith, and I don't own/plan on buying a PS2, so GH1 and GH:80's are probably out of the question. I'd love to play GH1, though. GH:80's I could live without.

My introduction to ScoreHero

Some time around early January, I stumbled upon k3v's tapping guide∞ when looking around the internet for strategies to beat Jordan (which I ended up beating without tapping, on my 17th birthday no less.), and started lurking around the ScoreHero forums in my free time. My friends would make fun of me quite a lot for playing GH so much, so I didn't want to admit to myself that I really was as obsessed with it as they made it out to be by making an account. Stupid, I know, lol. On March 27, I realized that SH was basically the only site I ever went on, and I wasn't even registered. So I thought, "What the hell? I'll sign up and upload my scores, just to see how I rank against real players." I had no intentions of ever using the forums. Today (the day I'm typing this.), I have almost 1,800 posts and about 50 scores uploaded across two games. Again, funny how thing work out.

My Guitar Hero accomplishments

When it comes to Guitar Hero, I'm probably slightly above average by ScoreHero's standards. I've done a couple of impressive feats, like (In a shot of luck) FCing TTL and learning to tap the Jordan solos (somewhat), but I'm very newbish when it comes to many aspects to the game, such using starpower. I can't squeeze worth shit, and I rarely use SP paths on my FCs. Though, I just generally don't play for score; in all honesty, I'm just not a very serious player. Hence the "no scores uploaded" thing. :)

My Guitar Hero preferences

When it comes to Guitar Hero, I'm purely and expert player, and my guitar of choice is the Gibson X-Plorer. Being a right handed person, I play on normal (righty) flip. I use Hyperspeed on GH2 and Hyperspeed 2 on GH3. When I first started playing GH2 to around the time I beat Jordan, I was a straight down-strummer, but now I generally alt-strum everything. One day I was playing BatH and I though, "Man, down-strumming this chorus is so inefficient. I'm gonna try to alt-strum it." So I started practicing my alt-strumming, and then I bought Rock Band and played on the Stratocaster, which, in case you are unaware, has a strum bar so craptastic that if you don't alt-strum, you ain't keeping combo at all, so I perfected my alt-strumming there. I'm glad I did, though, 'cause it puts me at a major advantage; hell, I 5*'ed NotB sightread.

My favorite song to play is Jordan, because my favorite thing to do in Guitar Hero is tap. I love tapping, I think it's so much fun. ^.^ Wish I was better at it though. Ah well, it'll come with time.

...And the curtain closes

That's a lot about me; way more than I intended on writing. Or revealing, lol. So that's it. If you want to read more about me or my Guitar Hero Accomplishments, I have a lot of stuff written in my Accomplishments Thread∞, including non-accomplishment-related stuff. So I guess that's it. Just remember...

T3D=CMC

My Guitar Hero/ ScoreHero career

That's a lot about me; way more than I intended on writing. Or revealing, lol. So that's it.
