Accomplishments

Most Recent:
I got a sight-read voxtar 2xFC on Hungry Like The Wolf (RB2). I knew the melody somewhat; my older sister had all the Druan Duran tapes in the 80's, but I'm sure it'd been a solid 15 years since I'd heard the song. And it was the first time I'd sung the song in Rock Band. The guitar chart was a true sightread, however.
Rock Band 1
Feb 25, 2008 - 5 million on Vox
March 3, 2008 - "Triple Double" (10+ Gold Stars on 3 instruments) (Guitar Bass and Drums)
March 24, 2008 -- Platinum guitarist, 6 million on vocals, first (for me) husband and wife gold stars.
5 hours of non-stop Guitar - finally got a buddy over to help out with the Platinum Artist / Endless setlist goal. Not having gone through it before, I was somewhat surprised when GGaHT came up at around song #50. In retrospect, it makes sense form a "whole band difficulty" perspective, but it was a shocker when it came up. I still usually fail out once (sometimes twice) on that song, but I managed to make it all the way through with what was probably my best run ever. Of course, I had my buddy on bass hoarding his OD through the entire second solo, so we got our first 4* performance of the set.
Overall, it didn't seem to take nearly as long as I'd anticipated. The time went by pretty quickly, all things considered. No failures/re-do's, one 5 minute restroom break, and a good number of gold stars along the way, along with a handful of 2x100% runs. And there were no sudden thunderstorms, power surges, or disc read errors to bone us 35 songs into it.
So once we got done with that, we determined we might as well pick up the "big in Moscow" achievement. Which unfortunately meant playing the "Drum legends" set, and "Won't get fooled again" by itself, since we hadn't done those yet. Playing WGFA for the 3rd time in 40 minutes, after playing 66 straight songs was a bit tedious.
Then, on Sunday, I finally got up to 6 million on my Vox career, which was my short-goal, AND got my 3rd, 4th, and 5th Vocal GS. (In Bloom, Paranoid, Flirtin' with Disaster).
Finally -- and this is more of a "my wife" accomplishment -- but last week I got my first "band" gold star with my wife on Drums and me on Guitar. She's about 80% of the way through her hard career on drums, and there's only a handful of songs she'll do on expert, so the opportunity for this doesn't come up very often. The song was Brass in Pocket - which is pretty easy, but it still took a good run on her part, so I was proud of us.
March 28, 2008 -- 8 million on Guitar
I finally sat down and played some guitar again tonight, and hit my goal of 8 million in the main setlist. Just 2 million in vox left to go to have 8 million on each!
I know it's not a huge milestone for a lot of people here, but it took me a while to get this last 500k, and I'm happy.
March 30, 2008 -- 7 million on Vox
April 6, 2008 -- 8 million on Vocals, 8 million on all 4 instruments (first to do so and post scores into ScoreHero leaderboards)
I finally hit my goal of 8 million on all 4 instruments (on Expert.)
It would appear that I'm the first person on SH to have done this. (and actually post the scores.)
I did some handiwork with excel, and if violinhero86 had ever bothered to play bass, he could've been there a while ago, but he never did, so I won the competition that nobody new I was having! Same with Crazed. Blob could've gotten it, too, with a couple vox improvements, but once again, having a competition that nobody else knew about paid off for me!
April 12, 2008 5-star Guitar Career
Finally got a 5* RTTH and Timmy on guitar, giving me 58/58 on-disc 5-stars. Neither were necessarily *high* 5-stars, but hey - it's pretty good for me. Rock Band makes me feel like a better fake-plastic guitar player than GH ever did.
Yeah - its not impressive to most people here. Fuck you and your superior fake-plastic skillz.
And for good measure, I FC'ed Limelight in solo (guitar) mode. I've done it a few times in BWT, but kept dicking it up every time I did it solo.
And on an GH note, I got my first 5* on freebird this afternoon, too. I can also play the entire beginning of Jordan without looking at the screen, much to the amazement of the neighbor kids. I didn't mention the part about how I fail at 59% every damn time - i just paused it before the beginning of the bridge and let them wander off in amazement. One of these days I'll beat that fucking song....
April 13, 2008 "Quadruple Double" (10+ Gold Stars on 4 instruments), plus my very first 1-man 2-part (Voxbass) FC
I finally nailed The elusive quadruple-double! I've defined this as 10 or more gold stars on all 4 instruments. As a bonus, I got 10 or more on "just the on-disc" songs -- so I didn't even have to pad my stats with "easy DLC songs". I think my 10th Vox GS was Maps, but it might've been Tom Sawyer (I got 10 and 11 in a hurry)
On top of that, I was working through my one-man-band BWT, and picked up my first OMBFC (one-man-band-full-combo).
large picture link
I did it several times, but kept having unused OD (and no gold). My half-ass attempt at pathing finally paid off, though..
I think I'm going to try to FC the shit out of this song, if the new set of drums (from RMA) is up to the challenge. By which I mean: an FC on Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vox, and double-FC's in Voxtar, Bass+Vox, and Drum+Vox solo mode. I think I can do it - I got several -1's on the voxtar (damn you strummies!) and I've had a few +2/-1 runs on the drums -- adding the vox in shouldn't too big of an obstacle.
And I improved my Vox score to 8.6 million, which means, I guess, that it's now my "best" fake-plastic instrument. I'm also in the top 200 fake-plastic singers on XBL, now. Who would have thunk?
April 16, 2008 -- 5-star Bass Career
finally got 5* on RTTH on bass, giving me 58/58 5-stars there, too.
May 3, 2008 -- Blinded By Fear expert drum 5-star
So.. out of fucking nowhere.. this:
BlindedByFear5*Drums
a 5-star BBF run on drums. Good enough for 6th on SH?!?! Me? I don't believe it, and I was there.
3-sticks FTW!
May 29, 2008 - 9 million vocal career
Finally hit the 9 million mark on Vox tonight, with a good run of WGFA. AND I got the gold on next to you (messy on the OW though, but fuck it, I'll take it.)
And I just realized I'm less than 100 points from an overall 35 million career score (all 4 instruments combined.) Fuck - I should have squeezed something, one fucking time, ever.
I've been doing some "Phil Collins" mode recently, in preparation of attempting to do the ESL by myself. I already have the platinum icon on my guitar, but I feel the need to be 'complete' for some reason. Of course.. the platinum icon is tied to a character I don't prefer to use, so I'll probably have to re-do that, too. Anyhow, I was going through the "easy" songs in BWT, and decided to see how I'd do at the "hard" songs in quick-play.
I passed WGFA and RTTH, and then, while I was on a roll, knocked this out:
BBFdrox5*
June 1, 2008 - 58 songs, 58 stars "achievement"
image
Easy Drum Scores
I one-starred all of easy drums. I'm still not sure why. There's even crappy webcam video of some of the "harder" songs on my youtubepage. In an effort to convince people to watch them all the way through, I will say that on many of them, there's something mildly "fun" in them. Like.. the dog starts barking, and I yell. Or I sing along for a few seconds.
June 4, 2008 Expert Vox 5-starred
(aka Fuck You Mississippi Queen and Gimme Shelter, you fucking fucks!)
Finally got around to 5*'ing Gimme Shelter, Wave of Mutilation, Mississippi Queen, and Blood Doll tonight on Vox. Gimme Shelter, of course, was just a son-of-a-bitch. Blood Doll I've always had trouble hearing, but finally sat down (actually, stood up) and just worked it through. The other two.. Mississippi Queen I had to turn the volume down so i couldn't hear that tone-deaf cat-in-heat, and Wave of Mutilation I never got around to because there were easier ways to pick up another 10,000 points.
So... awesome story, huh?
In any event, that gives me 58/58 5* on Guitar, Bass, and Vox. 4 more to go on Drums for the complete 4-branched-log.. NTY, RTTH, WGFA, and Outside. WGFA and Outside I can get with some practice. RTTH I still need to FOUR star before I worry about five. And Next to You.. I suppose is do-able...
June 21, 2008 Endless Setlist solo on drums/vocals
Last night, I hit 9.5 million on my solo vocal career. 10's my next "goal" but 9.5 took a little effort to get to.
In other news, I completed the Endless Setlist today, by myself, as a drummer and vocalist, so now I have fancy platinum icons on all instruments. About 70% of the songs were "sightreads" - meaning, I'd never done them drumming/singing before. I've obviously done the parts individually, though.
When it was all said and done, I wound up with 2 Golds (Creep and Ballroom Blitz), 3 3-stars (Outside, Detroit Rock City, and Dead on Arrival), and 259/290 total stars. The only song I had to do twice was Cant Let Go, and I managed to hit about 80% of the Red Train in TKAR (well after the OD notes) before breaking combo.
Not horrible for drox, if I do say so myself.
June 24, 2008 - 1-person, 4 instruments.
THIS: (all me - four instruments at once.. all on expert.)
(well.. technically 3 instruments since I hit none of the bass guitar notes.)

June 26, 2008 7-way FC
Blitzkrieg Bop solo-FC every which way
meaning, I FC (or 2xFC'ed) this song on Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Drums, Voxtar, VoxBass, and VoxDrums.
I'm pretty sure I'm the first person to do this on any song.
Been working on this, off and on, for a while. For some reason, the one that took the longest was the guitar+vocals one. I just kept missing one stupid note, every time I played, so I took a month or so off, and then got it first try. With horrible OD (as in, I forgot to activate the last vocal phrase until after I was done singing.) I never added my drum+vocals score to SH until now, because I kept thinking I was going to redo that one, too (I skipped two drum fills by mistake towards the end. Skipping 1 was for path reasons, 2 was a mistake, but still good enough for gold and it is a true 2xFC, even if the note total seems low for drums.)
I don't have a picture of the solo vocal FC, because I didn't think to take one. You can look on the XBL leaderboards if you really don't believe me. I think im somewhere on the first 2 pages, with a 144K glitch score.

Vocals (no pic) 138,000 *adjusted glitch score
Also, the voxbass score has held #1 for some time now, which is nice. I don't get a lot of those.
July 3, 2008 36m total score
I hit 36,000,000 total across all 4 instruments today. Yay!
July 6, 2008 - 10 million Vox
I feel like I've reached the point of diminishing returns on my vocal scores... but I felt that way at 8 and 9 million, too.
the points are definitely fewer and farther between these days, and I've never been one to squeeze out every last point in these games (pun intended.) I'm sure I could improve a fair amount on some of the songs (FPLT, for example), but I'm not sure I have it in me, for example, to sing "Timmy" over and over for 50k more points. Or Gimme Shelter or Mississippi Queen, for that matter.
Adding in the fact that I wouldn't mind hitting 10mil on drums (300k away, but man that's a big 300k..), and I really should go back and re-do most of my guitar scores - MAYBE bump that up to 9 million, and I'm not sure I'll get a chance to TRY to get to 11 on vox before RB2 comes out.
July 10, 2008 -- 2xFC In Bloom (Voxbass)
Got my second voxbass 2xFC last night - on video even. I was mainly doing it to try to learn how to path a little better - but it's still only good enough for 4th. It *is* the best 1-person score, though, till SG or SS bothers to go back and improve their scores. As far as "pathing" - i'm getting good at determining "Probtamal" scores.. ie: "probably the best general path, but not optimal unless you tweak every activation"

huge-ass picture: http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh60/idontlikecats/forum/voxbass/in_bloom_voxbass2xFC.png
listen for the extraneous OD activation @ 1:28. That's what happens when you say "activate between the knows nots" over and over before you start.
July 13, 2008 -- 10 million Expert Drums
10 million on drums! I had a GREAT drumming week, and picked up about 250K. Now I have *no* idea where more points will come from, since I was stuck at 9,998,xxx for about an hour last night trying to find any song I could improve on. Eventually I got a +10k on Electric Version to put me over the top. I should probably focus on some guitar points now, though, since I have 10m on vox and drums, and only 8 and change on guitar.
another giant "needs-to-be-resized" picture: http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh60/idontlikecats/forum/pete10m.png
July 21, 2008 - 2010 overall solo stars
SS described it quite well in his accomplishments thread, so I'll just quote him: After being stuck at 1995 total stars for a while, I decided to give some drox (drumming and singing) another go, and managed to pick up 15 additional stars this weekend.
Unless otherwise noted, the following were all improvements from 4 to 5 stars, on drox: August 17, 2008 - More Stars (2022 total)
I knocked out another mess of 1-man 2-part 5 stars this weekend, mostly on drox, but a few here and there on voxtar and voxbass.
Most notably, probably, is that I finally got TKAR on voxtar, giving me 58/58 5* there.
I was also pretty proud of the Dead on Arrival drox, as I tried that one many times just a few weeks ago, and couldn't get it. Got it first try this time.
The 8 stars I'm missing: 2024 or 2025 seems reasonable at this point, before RB2 comes out. Those last 5 or 6 though.. not anytime soon, I don't think.
August 24, 2008 - 100 Million "solo" points.
In a long-standing tradition of doing what socialskills does, excpet I do it a month or so later, I finally hit 100 million "solo" points across all 7 possible one-man combinations. (4 instruments solo, plus Guitar+Vox, Bass+Vox, Drums+Vox)
As of right now, my point totals are as follows:
Instrument Score
Guitar 8,673,902
Bass 8,522,806
Drums 10,204,815
Vocals 10,076,741
Voxtar 21,291,656
Voxbass 20,949,868
Drox 20,731,320
Total 100,451,108

Along with that, I picked up star #2025 by 5-starring Timmy on drox and RTTH on voxbass (2 songs/combinations I'm glad to say I'll never willingly do again.) I also picked up a 5* FP/LT on drox a few days ago. And I have set a new goal of double-FCing GG&HT on drums/vocals. I will concede the majority of the tambourine hits, which will likely prevent me from getting gold (any math/path whizzes want to verify that for me?). Perhaps I can swing the mic down and mic the blue tom during solo 2... though to do this without pausing seems difficult. (and pausing is for chumps.) Attempt #2 last night netted me a -1 vox and -2 or 3 on drums. I should be able to get it soon, if I get motivated to try a 9 minute song 10 times in a row.
August 26, 2008 - WGFA and DRC fell tonight. Just 3 to go... (Outside and RTTH drox, RTTH drums)
September 14, 2008 - I quit playing RB1 and moved on to RockBand2

ScoreHero related stuff about me
I've been a contributing participant of ScoreHero since November, 2007. Like many others I lurked for a good long while prior to that, feeling like I didn't have anything to offer in the forums (because I "sucked"), and because my scores weren't worth posting (also because I "sucked"). Once Guitar Hero 3 came out, however, I realized that I could help prove cutoffs on easy and medium (especially once someone figured out the nofail cheat), and this inspired me to finally register. Probably my most popular contribution has been the All Instrument Leaderboard for Rock Band.
Personal type stuff about me
I live in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia (USA) with my wife and son. In my non-rockband time, I can be found working (sys/network admin-type-stuff, specifically relating to computer and network security), and woodworking.
WTF is a qirex?
Qirex was one of the racing teams in the wipeout series of games, which I played a shit-ton of in the mid 90's. It seemed like a good username when I registerred for scorehero, however I later learned that due to the font used, about 50% of people think my name is "Girex" since the lowercase Q looks like a G (especially without the expected "U" after the "Q"). Unlike a lot of people, I tend to *not* have the same online handle between multiple sites, so if you run into a qirex elsewhere, it won't be me.

As far as "pathing" - i'm getting good at determining "Probtamal" scores.. ie: "probably the best general path, but not optimal unless you tweak every activation"

listen for the extraneous OD activation @ 1:28. That's what happens when you say "activate between the knows nots" over and over before you start.

36 million 4-instrument total (July 3, 2008)
10 million Vox (July 6, 2008)
2000+ Solo Stars (July 20, 2008)

July 21, 2008 - 2010 overall solo stars

SS described it quite well in his accomplishments thread, so I'll just quote him:
After being stuck at 1995 total stars for a while, I decided to give some drox (drumming and singing) another go, and managed to pick up 15 additional stars this weekend.
Unless otherwise noted, the following were all improvements from 4 to 5 stars, on drox:
August 17, 2008 - More Stars (2022 total)

I knocked out another mess of 1-man 2-part 5 stars this weekend, mostly on drox, but a few here and there on voxtar and voxbass.

Most notably, probably, is that I finally got TKAR on voxtar, giving me 58/58 5* there.

I was also pretty proud of the Dead on Arrival drox, as I tried that one many times just a few weeks ago, and couldn't get it. Got it first try this time.

The 8 stars I'm missing:
2024 or 2025 seems reasonable at this point, before RB2 comes out.
