Fingering
This, simply put, is the way you use your fingers when playing Guitar Hero (though it can be applied to many other activities).
You typically fret with four fingers.
When people are explaining how to go about playing a particular section, they'll often use numbers to represent which finger to play the note with. Your pointing finger is represented with "1", your middle finger as "2", your ring finger as "3", and your pinkie as "4".
In the forums you will see people posting freticons that resemble a part of a song, and below it will be numbers 1-4.. The numbers below the note tell you which they think is the best finger to use for hitting said note.
Note that when a part includes fingering for a part that you
tap, there will be colored numbers. The colored numbers (usually red) will mean you use this finger on your strumming hand to hit the note.
