History

F***ing Classy is the culmination of Deschain's wish to have a kick-ass full band. His first taste of it was his time with Gruppe Sechs. CHawk was in Gruppe Sechs, which disbanded from RiW disappearing off the face of the forums. CHawk was looking to make a band with the purpose to compete in the Rock Band Season 10 Full Band Leagues, and knowing Deschain was able to play well in addition to being able to follow a path, Deschain was summarily recruited into Direction Defiance, which in addition to CHawk on vocals and Deschain on guitar/bass had Prophet on drums and StrykerX on guitar/bass. The band achieved some 1st places, one or two of which still stand today, but did not finish the leagues and subsequently fell apart due to lack of communication. Attempts to recycle DD with a new player resulted in Greet The Ferocious Opponents (G.T.F.O. for short, and yes it was totally intentional), with CHawk switching to guitar/bass and sburymadness taking vocals. That also fell apart due to sburymadness's real life problems. Still attempting to keep some part of DD (Prophet), Absolute Zero made a go of it for about 20 songs, but then Prophet had to go back to school for the semester, and sadly had no room for his drums.

Formation

All members of DD having left (Stryker wanted to form something, but had the RROD for his 360 at the time), Lord Rylen met Deschain via the official Rock Band forums, where Deschain had posted a Vocalist Wanted ad for a local Valentine's Day Rock Band tournament. By the time Rylen replied, the tournament had passed (and Deschain had not gone since he remembered he had a girlfriend), but there was a weekly tournament at a local wing bar that allowed the two to meet. After realizing the gift card was easy pickins every week if he had a full band, Deschain posted on scorehero looking to fill up the remaining spots. Musketwarrior answered, and 3/4 of the band was recruited. N1temair was a lucky run-in on BQP, where he FC'd And Justice For All guitar on a random run. This caused us to recruit him into Absolute Zero, but when that fell through we kept him in mind for anything else that popped up, hence his immediate recruitment into the new band.
Deschain generally thought up the band names, and decided to mock the censorship system for RB2's WT mode, since the rejected names were always referred to as not being "classy". Pretty much any version of "fuck" with more than one letter not replaced by an asterisk was rejected, so the name ended up as F***ing Classy. He thought about adding another asterisk so people might deduce the name as "Feigning Classy" (to which he could wittily reply it was actually "Fuucking Classy"), but that was just too much.

To Date

The band blazed through the entire 84 song setlist in two 3-4 hour sessions, ending up in 8th place on 360. Seeing how winging a path did not provide top 5 scores, Deschain took it on himself to learn how to path. Rylen got into it as well once Deschain had grasped the basics and showed him the ropes, and the two are currently creating a path for every single Rock Band 2 song (Deschain is also doing Rock Band 1). Rylen attempted to add a vox squeezing column to the spreadsheet template, but he'd gotten bad info from Deschain, resulting in some bad paths, like a Round & Round FBFC being 40k short of 1st. Kawigi explained vox squeezing, and Deschain is currently re-working all the bad paths.
The band has redone 14 songs so far, with half the setlist for each game ready to go. We only meet once a week due to real life commitments, and since 3/4 of the band is local to Austin, TX, we meet at Deschain's apartment.
As of April 12th, 2010, Musket semi-retired form Rock Band in general to play on his awesome e-kit. Sokushi is graciously filling in.

Tournaments

Since Deschain, Rylen, and Musket all currently live in Austin, TX, it makes it easier to go to local tournaments.
The first place the austin-based portion competed was in the weekly Plucker's Rock Band competition every Thursday night starting at 10:30 PM. Not to be cocky, but we never lost, so we got a lot of Plucker's gift cards. They eventually stopped the nights, and not to be cocky (saying it a 2nd time makes me sound really cocky), but I kinda think it was partially our fault since people eventually stopped coming. We slowed that down by beginning to go every other week, but why go if there's no chance of winning?
Next was the Take The Stage Rock Band Tournament in Tulsa, OK, where we went with JW2 on guitar. We took 2nd overall, but the band that took 1st place took 6 hours and over 9 tries to beat our 2nd try on Let There Be Rock, the deciding song.
We also attempted the Rock Band Energizer Battle of the Bands (comprised of 3 separate battles of 15 RB2 songs each), and took 4th. I'm really proud of how well we did on the last battle, which contained the hardest songs.
