Moving Pictures is the eighth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1981. It became a classic rock album, and remains the band's most popular studio recording to date (certified quadruple-platinum with four million copies sold on January 27, 1995). It reached number 3 on the Billboard's Pop Albums chart in 1981.
It became the fifth full album released as DLC for
game_rockband Rock Band∞. The 7 tracks were released on September 23th, 2008, on Xbox Live along with 6 more singles. The album is available for download on Xbox Live and PSN for 880msp ($10.99), or for 160msp ($1.99) individually for each track.
The album was first rumored in Game Informer Magazine's July issue to be released on Rock Band. It was originally announced by Harmonix to be released on August 26th, 2008 for Xbox Live. However, it was delayed due to unknown technical difficulties that Harmonix has yet to comment on. A 3-pack from Locksley was released as compensation for the delay on August 29th, 2008.
Reception
The original delay of the album's release in late August was met with anger and impatience from
game_rockband Rock Band∞ players. A majority of players cited the lack of communication from Harmonix as the basis for their frustration.
The album itself is generally viewed as a favorite by many Rock Band players, especially for drums, and most players agree. The album also broke many DLC milestones, such as the first instrumental song,
song_rb2_yyz YYZ∞, which lacks a vocalist, and the second longest song in Rock Band to date,
song_rb_thecameraeye The Camera Eye∞, clocking in at 10:39. Also, the album featured two re-releases of songs that were covers upon their initial release; Limelight was already available for download, and the cover version of Tom Sawyer was included as an on-disc song for
game_rockband Rock Band∞. This is the first album to issue such re-releases, and brought the total of master re-releases to three, joining another Rush song,
song_rb2_workingmanvaultedition Working Man (Vault Edition)∞.
