Road Challenges

Road challenges are the closest thing to an tour mode in Rock Band 3, and are set up to allow you to complete all of the road challenges without having to play certain songs to the extent that you become tired of them (I'm looking at you Everlong). Each road challenge is comprised of a set number of performances and songs, ranging anywhere from 6 to 20 songs.

Each road challenge is comprised of a set number of performances and songs, ranging anywhere from 6 to 20 songs. At each show in a road challenge you get a choice of 3 setlists which may be either a preset playlist of on disc songs, a random setlist from a certain category of songs (genre, length, year, etc..) or a custom setlist where you are supposed to pick songs from a specified category. If you choose a custom setlist you can actually still access the filter list and remove whatever restrictions the game places on you, effectively allowing you to choose any songs that you have access to in game for any setlist. For each show you can earn up to 5 stars per song as well as 5 spades for fulfilling certain requirements while playing the song. The various spade challenges you may see are below:







Accuracy - For each section of the song, reach the target accuracy to earn spades. You can view your progress on each section through a green bar underneath the overdrive meter.
Share the Spotlight - When your character is in the spotlight, you must reach the target accuracy for this section of the song. If you are not playing as a band, this functions the exact same as Accuracy.
All for One - This is like a hybrid of Accuracy and Share the Spotlight, where all players in the band must reach the target accuracy in each section to earn spades.
Streakmania - Earn spades by reaching the target note streak as many times as possible in a song.
Optimized Overdrive - Earn spades by only activating overdrive when you are at max multiplier (6x for bass, 4x for other instruments)
Overdrive Chain - Earn spades by keeping overdrive active as long as possible on each activation.
Overdrive Streak - Earn spades by keeping your combo while under overdrive.
Full Overdrive - Earn spades by activating only when your overdrive meter is full.
??? - Earn spades by activating as many times as possible in a song.

All spade challenges requirements are adjusted based on the song in question. For example, the target note streak for Streakmania will be much lower on a short song such as "False Alarm" in comparison to a longer more complex song like "Roundabout". At the end of each road challenge, you can unlock 3 sets of awards based on your total spade count. These awards unlock goals which may unlock new clothing or gear for the character creator as well as providing you with more fans.
