The Devil Went Down To Georgia - GH3
Artist: Steve Ouimette
This "metal" version of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band was written and recorded by Steve Ouimette as the final battle track in Game_GuitarHeroIIILegendsOfRock Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. It was later made available as a free DLC download along with the boss battle tracks written by
song_gh3_tommorelloguitarbattle Tom Morello∞ of Rage Against the Machine and
song_gh3_slashguitarbattle Slash∞ of Guns N' Roses.
Ouimette: "When I did TDWDTG I really wanted a contrast between the sound of Lou and the sound of Johnny, so I brought in my buddies Ed Degenaro and Geoff Tyson to play the left side solos. In the end I think it really gave the sound of a battle that way rather than me just playing both sides...As for how long it took me to compose, well...I didn't write it so it was really about arranging the song for the solos. It was a couple weeks of work. Little known fact is the song I originally turned in was around 3 1/2 minutes long, but Neversoft and me bounced it back and forth until it ended up having more solos. The whole thing was funny and got super out-of-hand with the fast playing. I never expected it to be popular or that somehow people would see that side of me as a guitarist. It was the last song I did on GH3."
