I've played Guitar Hero II since I purchased the game on April 3rd, 2007, the release date for the 360 version. I blew through easy and medium, praising the game for the song list and addicting qualities. It was when I moved to hard that my life was changed forever (or up until this point). I found myself facing challenges, actually having difficulty five-starring some of the more difficult songs. I thought nothing of it. I soldiered through the entire setlist, three stars and all. When I stepped up to the expert difficulty, more challenges arose. That orange button kept getting in the way. My pinky wasn't smart enough to be able to hit red and blue at the same. I actually failed multiple songs! So, in what may have been a lack of judgment, I stepped down to hard and five-starred songs when I hit a road block on expert. I was five-starring things I had never dreamed of! It seems the more I played the better I got. Who knew? My interest in expert declined, as I was five-starring songs all across the board. I was amazing at this game! But alas, there were several beasts looming in my future. Woman was one of these beasts. Diagonal notes? I'll never hit those! I didn't know why I couldn't five-star this song (aside from playing poorly, of course). I sought advice on Gamefaqs, where my complaints were met by more complaints from others! Finally, one wonderful person linked me to a website known as Scorehero. There, my questions were answered! People gave me advice on those tough, diagonal notes. I was told specific places to use that useless blue crapped that always made me miss. My scores improved! Soon I learned of "FCs" and began attempting my own "FCs." From there I learned how to "squeeze"and my scores increased more, even on songs I had already FC'd. This website was great! It was from then on, I was truly dedicated to hard. Sure, I poot around expert now and then, scraping up whatever FCs I can, but Hard is where my heart really lies. <3 Now, I am one of 15 people to obtain a total score of 20,000,000 points on GH2H.
Soon I got GH3 and was immensely disappointed. Maybe it was the fantastic memories I had of GHII or the fact that I liked things the way they were, but me and GHIII did not get along. I made a half-hearted attempt to get through hard. I did not enter my full expert scores, either. I did manage to five-star all songs excluding TTFAF, though. I have since sold the game.
6/13/10: I rebought this game because I found it for seven bucks and it still sucks.

Purchasing Rock Band, I was a ecstatic. I get to play Guitar Hero as it was meant to be played, as designed by Harmonix (That was my line of thinking back then, and it still is. Sue me.). Not only that, but drums. Fucking drums. I naturally whipped out the drums as soon as possible and thought "I have some rhythm, right?" and jumped into hard. Wrong. I failed Say It Ain't So several times. That damn bass pedal killed me. I hopped down to medium and began playing and, much like GH2H, I got comfortable. I managed to FC Tom Sawyer and Next to You! I kicked ass. I moved up to hard and kicked less ass. Limping past hard to expert, I saw a dramatic improvement. Slowly but surely, I began to five-star and even gold-star songs. Eventually, I got to the point where I could five-star then entire setlist except for four evil songs: Paranoid, Run to the Hills, (Don't Fear) The Reaper (which I could have five-starred it if I could pass it, damnit), and Won't Get Fooled Again. Those stats to my right say differently, but unfortunately, my drums died before I could update scores. Now that they are totally broken, I can't even scroll the setlist to write just the scores for those incorrect songs. That is where my drumming career ended.
Guitar
I picked up Rock Band guitar on hard (naturally), but that fretboard being so damn slow (spoiled by hyperspeed!), I moved up to expert, where I didn't find much trouble. By this time, I was pretty proficient with a guitar. I easily five-starred every song on the list and was a tad disappointed, but there was enough interesting stuff to keep me satisfied. I have since gold-starred every song, pre-cutoff-lowering update.

Guitar Hero: 80's

I've always been a huge fan of eighties music, but I never had a PS2, so recently I borrowed a PS2 along with an SG (of course) and GH:80's. I loved it. I love the songs, the note charts, everything. There were a little too few songs, but I still had a good time. I managed to get 30/30 Hard FC's in just over 12 hours. Electric Eye can suck it. On expert, I have 22/30 FCs, including Caught in a Mosh. The songs I'm missing that are possible are Round and Round, Radar Love, I Wanna Rock, and Seventeen. The other four I will never get, guaranteed. I've come closer to FCing Seventeen than I have I Wanna Rock lolol.

I picked up Rock Band 2 and was extremely excited. It was everything that made Rock Band awesome except better. There were more songs, more good songs, more challenging songs, etc. I am still currently playing, but not competitively. I'm simply enjoying the game without worrying much about scores. I've five-starred every songs and I'm sure I could gold-star most of the game minus a few songs. The game reintroduced hyperspeed, so I was happy about that as well.

My expert accomplishments are less stellar. I have some FCs here and there, but nothing spectacular. I'm in the top 150, so that may be good. I have the Log and have five-starred every song, so that's cool.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

Soon I got GH3 and was immensely disappointed. Maybe it was the fantastic memories I had of GHII or the fact that I liked things the way they were, but me and GHIII did not get along. I made a half-hearted attempt to get through hard. I did not enter my full expert scores, either. I did manage to five-star all songs excluding TTFAF, though. I have since sold the game.

This page will not be pretty.
I've played GH since I picked up GHII for the 360 on April 3, 2007. I quickly moved to hard and decided I liked it there, so I stayed. When not grinding hard, I played through expert slowly. My last three setlist five-stars were songs in the next to last tier: The Trooper, Rock This Town, and Psychobilly Freakout. Eventually I five-starred Six and everything was right in the world.
Soon I got GH3 and was immensely disappointed. I have since sold the game.
I got Rock Band, and on the other hand, fell in love. Now Rock Band 2 has come and everything is once again right in the world. I've gold starred every song on the RB X Guitar setlist. I have not yet gold-starred all of RB2; both of my guitars have passed away. With Rock Band came drumming, which I was never a natural at. Fighting waning drum sets, I worked my way to expert and five starred a good chunk of the set list. Four stars remain on Paranoid, Don't Fear the Reaper, Run to the Hills, and Won't Get Fooled Again. I have not played drums on RB2 yet; like my guitars, my drums are deceased.
I downstrum the hell out of everything. I have yet to break a higher score on Beast and the Harlot than 330k, which I obtained downstrumming. My Misirlou high score while downstrumming is 125k. As a result I suck at alt-strumming.
I'm a mediocre squeezer.
