Metallica – Inducted at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Finally!

I'm temporarily setting aside my dissertation writing to give homage to the best heavy metal band on the face of the planet – Metallica. I'm suspending all my writing projects for about an hour to express how joyful I am to see Metallica be included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and also to show why the band deserves the honor.

After 28 years and a few line-up changes, Metallica still sells out concerts and produces chart-topping albums. Given the committess distinct take on heavier music, there have only been a handful of hard rock bands that have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1986. These bands include Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Clash, Van Halen and U2.

But more than their heart-pounding music, thrashing guitar chords and dark lyrics, Metallica has won my respect because they came out during the early 80's, when the nauseating sound of glam rock and its bedazzling artists have taken over the air waves. Their audacity to come face-to-face with the pansy 80's music brought Metallica to the forefront of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth and Slayer.

Metallica has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. Their “Black” album has sold over 15 million copies in the United States, making it the 25th best-selling album in history. Metallica helped create a new subgenre in rock and is one of the most successful band in recording history, influencing countless people to pursue musical careers.
