Was introduced to Guitar Hero some time ago with the first game. Could do most songs on Medium, but never really made much headway with Hard. Mostly ignored the game since then.
Was introduced to Rock Band at a friend's house around its release. Fell in love instantly with the drums. Over time, worked my way up to the Hard and now Expert level. Also managed to get my guitar skills to Expert level (though I'm not that good and will fail on really hard songs), as well as my vocals to about Hard (but Expert is doable).
Note that I actually do not technically "own" Rock Band, as it is owned officially by one of my housemates. As such, I do not have much control over obtaining DLC. Also, as I am at school for most of the year, I do not get to play RB except on holidays. I do not have RB2 yet.
Expert drums: Can play most songs at about 5-star level. Difficulties with drumset hardware has made getting Gold Stars difficult; now that I have a better drumset (and the cutoffs are lower), I expect to get more Gold Stars. Still cannot pass Run to the Hills on Expert...
