Pre-Guitar Hero
My real name is Mike and I live in Waynesboro, Virginia. I'm 25 years old and live with my Wife, dog, and two cats. I've been going by the handle
IWillKickU⇒ since 2001 when I spent as much time on battle.net playing Diablo II as I do now on
ScoreHero. When I moved on from Diablo, I kept the handle for the rest of my adventures in the video gaming world. My first video gaming love was Final Fantasy. I played Final Fantasy I way back in the NES days, but never beat it until I was a little older and understood RPGs better. I played the crap out of Final Fantasy IV and VI in the SNES days and did all sorts of rediculous speed runs and single player challenges, etc... After that, I spent a brief period trying to convince myself that the N64 was worthwhile, but when Final Fantasy jumped to Sony, so did I. When I got my Playstation, I discovered that there was another video game franchise worth playing. Enter Tony Hawk. I spent my PS1 years dominating various Final Fantasy titles, and TH1 and 2. Then my video game career entered a dark period when I went to college, and was console-less. I HAD TO PLAY PC GAMES!!! PC was spent mostly on Diablo II, although I did take a brief hiatus to play through GTA III and Vice City. Eventually I reverted back to NES and SNES via emulators, because PC gaming blows as hard as your 5-year-old laptop does... When I came home from college, I bought myself a shiny new PS2, and proceded to replay my FF games, get all the Tony Hawks that came out while I was away, and replay the GTA series, along with San Andreas. Finally, I saved up enough paypal dollars to purchase Guitar Hero II.
I was in love
Guitar Hero was AWESOME!!! I played through the easy and medium careers very quickly, but had a hell of a time adjusting to hard. It took me WAAAAY too long to beat hard, and I had started (and got stuck) on expert too. I had hit a wall, and just really wasn't feeling the GH anymore. Finally, I stumbled upon
ScoreHero from www.gamefaqs.com (I really don't recommend that you click that link) and registered in December of '07, although didn't even touch the forums. You see, the good people (sic) of Gamefaqs warned me that if I posted on the
ScoreHero forums, there was a 99% chance that I would be banned immediately for no good reason.
ScoreHero was a bunch of elitist hard-asses who don't want to have fun and were just obsessed with plastic guitars. SOUNDS LIKE MY KINDA PLACE, miright?
Anyhoo, once I got to know Scorehero I came out of Lurking status and made
My first post∞ (a real beauty right? >_>). Scorehero got me back into GH, and gave me the motivation to finally beat Hard, and even Expert. Since then, it's been a roller coaster. I quickly established myself as a "hardware guy" and helped a lot of n00bs by regurgitating information that I read here on Scorehero. I made it a point to be as helpful as possible in the Hardware section, and even wrote a guide that got a sticky! Once I had been stickied, I figured that I was important enough to the SH community, that I could post whatever I wanted where ever I wanted whenever I wanted. I was wrong. I was (deservedly) Perma-Rockered in March '08 for posting excessive useless posts that I thought were funny (evidently the site staff didn't share my humor!). For seven aweful days, my GuitarLegend rank was replaced with Rocker. I didn't bitch and cry when I got perma-rockered. I just cut my useless posts completely and retreated to sections of the sight where people new and respected me, and returned to my useful ways. After a week, I had my title back, but I didn't return to my old obnoxious ways. Since being perma-rockered, I've gotten a much better understanding of what is a good post and what is not. I do my best now to post well, and it's payed off. I was even the recipient of the prestigeous EWiggen's Poster of the Week Award! Here's some of the other ways that I think I've been a benefit to the community:
IWillKickU⇒'s Awesome threads of Awesomeness
Some of my best topics from the Scorehero forums are:
Official Controller Compatibility Guide.∞ - So helpful, it got a sticky! Now in wiki form:
Controller Compatibility.
The Guitar Hero Weekly Top 10∞ - Billboard style, for your historical data tracking pleasure.
Gamertag registry for non-GH/RB games∞ - Play other games on XBL with Scoreheroers.
PS2 Kramer Neck Hardwiring Guide∞ - Complete with pictures of puppies and kitties!!!
I concieved of
The GH Accomplishment Timeline∞, but didn't have the time to upkeep that thread along with the others that I already was maintaining, so
Gotsmack ran with the idea and did a far better job than I EVER imagined myself doing with it.
I created almost all of the wiki-pages for Rock Band DLC track packs, and cross referenced them with thier song pages, along with some other useful wikipages.
I also am on the
ScoreHero League planning commitee, and have access to the super secret
ScoreHero leagues pages, so if you have a good idea for the leagues, feel free to PM me on the forums or in IRC.
Other Threads of Win
The Epic Tale of the Endless Setlist∞ - If you haven't read this, you're not my friend. It's the first exploits of
The Disasterbaters!
My Old GH Accomplishment thread∞ - I may use this still, but not the way I have been.
My Old RB Accomplishment thread∞ - See above.
The Best Rivalry that ScoreHero has Evar Seen∞ - Maybe an exageration, but only a slight one.
Thursday Night Rock Band in Harrisonburg, VA∞ - Want to meet me IRL? Here's where you can do that.
My Other favorite Video Games
Nintendo
Final Fantasy - Beat the game with many different parties, Single player challenge w/ Fighter, Red Mage. Retrieved every treasure, leveled whole party up to 50.
The Legend of Zelda - Beat the 1st game, never finished the master quest. I've tried to beat this game without a map or guide many times. It's not happening.
Zelda 2: Link - Never did beat the final boss, but I could get up to him in one life!
Bomberman - So so many LULZ.
Super Nintendo
Final Fantasy 2 (IV) - Played the SHIT out of this game. Never did find a pink tail. I fought 400+ battles against 5 pink puffs, and never got a fucking tail.
Final Fantasy V - Played through a couple times on an emulator. I always wanted to level all classes all the way up, but got tired of the grind.
Final Fantasy 3 (VI) - Best. RPG. EVAR! Got every item, leveled all characters to 99 w/ all spells. Got every Esper, there's nothing that can be done in this game that I didn't do.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past - I can still get every heart piece, every item, and beat every temple/dungeon without a guide.
NBA Jam - I will take on ANYONE at NBA Jam, and at least have a good shot at a win. I used to stalk the NBA Jam arcade machine, even.
Nintendo 64
Super Mario 64 - The second game published for N64 was the best. What a failure of a system.
Zelda: Occorana of Time - This game gives Mario 64 a good run for best game. I never could get the 4th bottle. I hunted the Boos, but could never find all 10.
007: Goldeneye - 4 player split screen. Golden Gun. Epic. On single player, I beat every level on 007 Double 0 Agent, except for Control Room and Aztec (and, of course, the last level which I never unlocked.
Playstation
Final Fantasy VII - Always tried to level up all materia and characters, but would get bored of the grind.
Final Fantasy VIII - Never finished this one, I always got sidetracked by that damn card game.
Final Fantasy IX - See FFVIII ^.
Final Fantasy Tactics - Never actually got very far in this one, but I really enjoyed playing it.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater - Every goal, every character, including Officer Dick.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - Every goal, every character. All cash found. All extra everything.
Grand Theft Auto 2 - This game was lightyears better than GTA1. Many hours of academy dorm room lulz.
Playstation 2
Grand Theft Auto 3 - This game blew my mind. It set a new standard for PS2 games. I couldn't get 100% completion, because I could never beat the Patriot Playground checkpoint race.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - 100% completion!
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - 100% in Los Santos and San Fiero and all the little villages around them. There was a couple things that I couldn't finish in the Vegas City (the name escapes me atm).
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - All goals, all stats, all decks with all characters, including bonus characters.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 - This was the last Hawk game that I LOVED. I got all the goals and all the cash and beat all the Pro challenges. I was a little disappointed that there was no point in playing with different characters, since stat points were universal. After this the Hawk games went downhill fast!
God of War - Best action/adventure game ever. On any platform. I never went through and maxed out all my weapons, but I beat it on The first two settings (never tried the challenge of the Gods).
God of War II - I never finished this one, because I got my Xbox during my first playthrough.
Xbox 360
Gears of War - I suck at this game. Hard. I'm still trudging through Casual (I can't beat the damn "Get to the APC now!" level :( ). I don't think I'll ever get the 100 kill with achievements in ranked matches. But god-damn this game is fucking awesome!
Assassin's Creed - Game was awesome. Can't wait for the sequal. I got every achievement except for kill all templars and get all kingdom flags, but that's just a matter of a couple grind hours.
LEGO Star Wars - I don't care what anyone says. The LEGO games are fun as hell!
Mass Effect - I don't have this yet, but I've played it some at a friend's, and I know I must have it!
Bioshock - See Mass Effect ^^
PC
Diablo II - I had a level 79 Paladin, a 61 Barbarian, and a 54 Druid on Battle.net.
Starcraft - I played this quite a bit on battle.net, but my true love was playing the campaigns.... over, and over, and over, and over etc....
Read this crap! It'll be Awesome!
- One time, I wrote a book. It was published. If you can link me to a copy of the book I wrote, you win a cookie (this actually isn't a joke)
- I used to like Star Wars∞ Better, but now I'm a fuckin' Trekkie∞! Stamp it.
- I couldn't swim until I was 12. But I became captain of the swim team in high school.
- I've done 49 exact cutoff proofs, that earned me 157 contribution points. I've still got 72 sitting there collecting dust.
- I once lost 17 pounds in 4 weeks doing Tae-Bo∞.
- My favorite breakfast cereal is Cinnamon Toast Crunch∞.
- I had my first kiss when I was 3 years old. I've kissed at least one girl every years since! (sorry, no fat chicks)
- I smoke cigarettes∞. A lot!
- My wife named our cat, Denver, after one of her co-workers! >:| Not cool, wife, not cool!
- I'm going hunting this fall, and I'm going to kill, clean, and eat a deer. It'll be my first, and I'm 25 years old!
- My ancestors owned George Washington Carver's∞ family.
- I'm an Atheist∞.
- I like gay people∞, and have a ton of gay friends, but I've never had sex with one.
- My brother speaks fluent Esperanto∞.
- I used to have a motorcycle∞, and was almost in a serious accident. I flew through the air like Superman∞, but landed back on the bike (WTF?)!
- I have a Shakespeare∞ bobblehead on my desk at work.
- My life long dream is to create an army of evil bobbleheads∞, like Satan, Hitler, George W. Bush, Stalin, Gary Coleman, Barry Bonds etc... If you have any evil bobbleheads, I'll pay good money for them!
- That's right, I play Lego Star Wars∞, you got a fucking problem with that?

My Les Paul died today, or maybe yesterday. I can't remember which (name that book and win a cookie). I decided that the time had come to do some vox. This was the first time that I had attempted vox completely uninhebriated. I was the only one home, but I was still nervous. I got through a couple songs on Expert, and was just starting to get into it when my wife came home. And by "came home", I mean walked in on me crooning "Don't you know that you are a shooting star?! .... Don't you? ... Don't you? ... Don't you?!?..." with my eyes closed and hands in the air.
Have you ever been caught masturbating by your mother? Because it kind of felt like that. I think from now on I'll take my vox nice and drunk, thank you very much!
